CUNY IIAS – University of Limerick Professor Máire Ní Neachtain to speak on Tues December 4, 2012 @ 5PM

On Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Professor Maire Ni Neachtain of the University of Limerick will give a lecture entitled “The Road Ahead: An Ghaeltacht as a bedrock for Irish-speaking communities of the future?” The lecture will be held at Lehman College, Room 306 (Recital Hall) Music Building.

Dr. Maire Ni Neachtain will speak about the changing status and role of the Irish speaking districts (An Ghaeltacht) in the maintenance and revival of the Irish language throughout the island of Ireland.

This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Languages and Literatures and the CUNY Institute for Irish-American Studies.
